Privacy Policy

Switchback is an offline crew and pacer guide for ultramarathons. It has no accounts and no sign-in. This page explains exactly what the app stores and what it sends.

Stored on your device only

• The race you selected, your goal times, per-station notes and packing lists, arrival check-ins, your Runner/Crew view choice, and other settings.
• Cached race data so the app works without cell signal.

This information stays on your device. We never receive it. Deleting the app or clearing its site data removes it.

What the app sends to us

• Anonymous usage counter. Each time the app opens it may send the date and time, the race you have open, the app version, and a random ID generated on your device. The ID is not connected to your name, email, phone, or any other identifier, and we cannot use it to identify you.
• Feedback. If you answer the occasional in-app rating prompt, we receive your rating, any comment you type, and the same random ID.
• Race requests. If you tap Request guide on a race, we receive which race, the date and time, the app version, and the same random ID. We use this only to decide which race guides to build next.
• Contact form. If you use the contact form on the About screen, we receive the name, email address, and message you enter. We use these only to read and reply to your message.

This data is stored in a Google Sheet that only the developer can access. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or combine it with data from other sources. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics services, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Camera

If you choose to scan a QR code to import a shared race plan, the app asks for camera access. The camera image is processed on your device to read the code and is never saved or sent anywhere.

Location

Switchback does not access your location. The Navigate buttons open Apple Maps or Google Maps with the destination filled in. Those apps are governed by their own privacy policies.

Links to other services

Race pages may link to a race's own website, live-tracking page, or weather forecast. Those sites are operated by others and have their own privacy practices.

Children

Switchback is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Delete your data

Switchback: Trail Ultra Guide has no accounts. To delete data you sent us:

1. Open the app's About screen and note the Anonymous ID shown at the bottom (if you only used the contact form, the email address you entered is enough).
2. Email smaremanda@gmail.com with the subject "Switchback data deletion" and include that random ID or the email address you used on the contact form.
3. We delete the matching usage counts, race requests, feedback and contact messages within 30 days and reply to confirm. We keep nothing after deletion.

Data stored only on your device (plans, notes, checklists) is removed by deleting the app or clearing its data.

If this policy changes, we will update the date above.
